Christian Academy Alliance
|
Excellence, Accountability, and Collaboration
Christian Boarding Schools-
Intended to blend both the positive aspects of boarding schools; primarily,
educational offerings, time away, new perspectives and skills, and social learning
with structured (at varying levels) Biblical teaching, modeling, and mentoring.
Many deal with significant to minor behavioral issues, whether clinically or
pastorally. Parents often choose this option to reinforce Christian values, provide
a structured Christian environment offering new perspectives, and to restore
family relationships. There is great diversity of programming within "troubled
teen" Christian Boarding Schools and Christian Academies. Students stay
anywhere from 3-12 or more months.
A resource for Christian families, providing programming for struggling (troubled) teens in Christian Academy settings.
|
Our dual mission is to provide education and to promote excellence, accountability and collaboration among: Christian boarding schools, Christian Academies, Christian adventure programs, and other programs for troubled teens, to assist parents, prospective employees, educational consultants, and the public in making informed choices concerning these types of interventions. It is also our intent to foster inter-organizational dialogue to strengthen the "body" of this field.

Christian Academy Alliance is a reference for these types of programs:
|
Christian Academies-
Focusing on rigorous academics, Christian Academies are better suited for
students who need the structure of an integrated academic regime and the
flexibility of a more collegiate setting. Students attending a Christian Academy
are often gifted, bright students who have chosen to dismiss typical academic
opportunities for less constructive pursuits. Parents often choose this option to
accelerate their child's academic recovery and to provide a springboard toward
college or university studies. A Christian Academy, like a Christian Boarding
School, should offer comprehensive Biblical studies and all staff members should
be accountable to an organizational statement of faith. Students are typically
enrolled for a semester or academic year.
Christian Adventure Programs-
Primarily intended to address behavioral issues, Christian Adventure programs
differ from both Christian boarding schools and Christian academies in both
duration, which is typically several weeks, and in the (generally speaking, at least)
lack of academic programming. Christian adventure programs use adventure
pursuits (i.e. rock climbing, canoeing, team building, mountain biking, rafting,
etc.) as a vehicle to facilitate both the sense of accomplishment from working as a
team and discovering new horizons and the more overt behavioral/spiritual aspects
of the course. Parents are commonly looking to address a recent or persistent
issue that their child or family has been dealing with and have not yet decided
whether longer term assistance is yet needed.
