ADVENTURE ACADEMY USA
Family ministry is a hallmark of PA programs
"Palmer Christian Family Services is intended to be
'the' premier intervention program, offering wilderness
adventure, family workshops, emotional growth,
and innovative academics."  - DB Palmer
down a hurtful, destructive path.

Many parents, after realizing that their relationships with their teen has suffered, are
seeking the assistance of "troubled teen" programs; such as wilderness therapy,
therapeutic boarding schools, and residential treatment centers.  PCFS provides a
Christian alternative to these options.  We believe, although some teens are
well-served by these "troubled teen" programs, many teens are not troubled; rather,
they lack the support, and structure that they crave in order to excel.

Our approach is simple.  We provide Christian spiritual renewal and discipleship
training, an upbeat Christian environment, accredited academics to assist students
who may have fallen behind and to propel students to college admissions, and blend
these with the challenge of adventure recreation/wilderness experiential education.

Some parents are looking to punish their teen.  If so, PCFS is NOT the right program
for you.  PCFS is a spiritual renewal program, utilizing adventure based education.
We do not provide boot camps.  Our students just need a change of pace, a new
environment in which to excel, and solid Christian support.

What kind of students attend Palmer
Adventures Programs?
Our students are teens from a Christian home who are experiencing a loss of
motivation and may have begun shutting out authority figures to varying
extents. While intelligent, your child not making good choices and is starting to
burn the relationship you once had.  You may be concerned that the child you
once knew is fading away. You may have tried talking to a therapist and may
even have  been in sessions with your child. Something is just not connecting
anymore, and while you have compromised many times in the past;
you are not willing to compromise your child’s well-being anymore.

You are not alone.

If this sounds like your situation, and believe me you are not alone; there is an
answer. We have worked with hundreds of families in similar situations. Palmer
Christian Family Services is full of students with very similar issues, connected
by parents just as concerned with their children’s present and future well-
being. We are here to support you and your teen. There are many well-run
programs that do great work and really understand the minds of the students
that are enrolled. Spend considerable time looking into the program to
determine which is right for you and your teen. Make sure it is a fit for your
specific needs.

A bit more info concerning Palmer Adventures...
Palmer Christian Family Services stands out as one of the best.
We have trained with top universities, organizations, and mentors. We are members of the Association of Christian
Schools International (ACSI), the Christian Wilderness Leaders' Coalition (CWLC), and many other organizations; and
are enriched by guest professors and counselors from across the nation.

Our understanding and experience with secular counseling interventions and methods, spanning many years, mixed
with over a decade of wholistic treatment, probing faith, purpose, community, and spiritual awakening makes us a
powerful force in students’ lives. We will address issues from all sides; from cognitive, emotional, physical, social, and
spiritual. This is the mission and purpose of the founders and staff at Palmer Christian Family Services. We care, too.

"Troubled teens" and the like...

The term, "troubled teen" is not only an unfortunate label, but is also a misleading phrase.  AA-USA staff are unwilling
to label our students as "troubled".  Genetics and circumstance aside, we are, after all,
what we choose to be... what we strive to be... what we work toward.

Our students learn that they are responsible for their own lives and individual decisions.
No one phrase defines us! Hopefully, we will all strive to be defined as, "followers of Christ".

Is a Palmer Christian Family Services program right for my teen?

It is imperative that students seeking admission to Palmer Christian Family Services are motivated and capable of
taking their academics seriously.  Students that do not fit this description would do well to enroll in another program or a
wilderness assessment program in order to begin a therapeutic process. Applications can be kept on hold during the
student’s wilderness-assessment program and interviews can be held during or after their assessment program.
